UN Eager To Take Advantage of Obama Win to Ban More Guns

That didn't take long. The UN is a huge failure, or better put, the UN is great as keeping those in power around the world in control of their countries. Take North Korea for example. The UN completely fails to meet any ideal of improving the welfare of citizens around the world. It is better at ensure that those who suffer under oppressive regimes, continue to suffer.

A threat to these bad governments is the flow of weapons to those who might stand up to their oppressors. So naturally the UN has been trying to limit the flow of arms around the world. The last set of talks dies when it was clear that no treaty would get ratified by the US Government, making an agreement essentially worthless. Now merely a day after an Obama victory, the UN wants to try again and the US was all for it.

(Reuters) - Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee's call on Wednesday to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade.
U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies. - Reuters
I seriously doubt that Obama's re-election will change anything. It was the Senate that killed this deal as enough Senators came out against it ensuring that any attempt to ratify would fail. I suspect that this is still the case.

Still, the Obama Administration has no problem wasting time and effort in pushing this around again. It seems to be a strategy of theirs. Keep as much BS moving around and you have no idea what might happen next. And who knows, they might still get lucky and make some progress in their direction.

Maybe there will be another shooting that they can take advantage of to make another push to get this through...
